Service Battery Warning Light On Dash?

Battery Recharge service warning Light comes up on Dash.
This is indication to check battery charging system parts. That is wires, connections, battery and alternator.

If all checks out ok,then fuses and relays in the fuse box needs to be checked.

How To determine what the cause of the Charging System problem?
For this there are a couple of quick tests.
You will need a Voltage testing meter called  volt meter, with the meter you can run these tests yourself.

To perform this test follow the procedure:------

  1. With the engine running, take a voltage reading at the battery terminals. If the voltage is not between 13.2-14.4v, or is fluctuating in and out of this area, the Alternator is the root of the problem, and will need to be replaced.
  2. If the Alternator passes this test, shut the engine off, and wait 15 minutes. Again, take a voltage reading at the battery terminals, this time with the engine off. If the voltage is anything less that 12v, the battery is the culprit.
  3. Check the connections at the battery and make sure they are tight and free of any corrosion. If the visual inspection checks ok, replace the battery.
  4. If you do not have access to a voltage meter, most local "big chain" parts stores, like AutoZone or O'Rieleys, will run these tests for you for FREE right in their parking lot.
This details will help.
Thanks.
