How to replace Oil Pressure Sensor on 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt ?


Oil Pressure Sensor


Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4. Disconnect the engine oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the engine oil pressure sensor.

To install:
  1. Install the engine oil pressure sensor and tighten to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  2. Connect the engine oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

Testing



  1. Inspect the Oil Pressure Sensor connector, check terminal for poor connections, loose wires, bent, broken, or corroded pins, and then verify that the connector is securely fastened.
  2. Check the continuity between the terminal and body of sensor with an ohmmeter. If there is no continuity, replace the oil pressure sensor.
  3. If the diaphragm is cracked or there is oil leakage within the sensor, the oil pressure sensor must be replaced.
